The path was never supposed to be straight.

I’ve never had a perfectly straight path.

My career has moved through neighborhoods, government, public policy, development, emerging industries, entrepreneurship and now technology.

At different points, those chapters looked unrelated. Looking back, I see them differently.

Each one taught me about people, systems, opportunity and what it takes to turn an idea into something real.

BUILDING
BUILDING
Ideas matter. Execution matters more.
Ideas matter. Execution matters more.
Today, I’m focused on building companies. Technology matters because it can simplify problems that have remained unnecessarily complicated for too long.
I want to build things people can use, companies capable of lasting, and teams that stretch the original idea beyond its starting point.

Every chapter left something behind.

Community work taught me to listen. Government taught me how systems behave. Development taught me how many people it takes to make something real. Emerging industries taught me how opportunity and uncertainty can share a room. Entrepreneurship taught me to decide, accept risk and build. Those lessons now shape how I think about technology.

Technology is not the destination. It is a tool for what comes next.

What interests me most about technology is not how complicated it can become. It is how simple it can make something else—healthcare, financial services, products, access and communication. The strongest technology removes friction. That is the standard I want the companies I build to move toward.

WHY IT MATTERS

Ambition means something different when you’re building beyond yourself.

Business is only part of the picture. I’m a father. Detroit and community shaped me. The wins have shaped me, but so have the things that did not work. Fatherhood changed how I think about time, responsibility and legacy. Building something that lasts means thinking about who it is for.

THE REALITY
THE REALITY
Not every idea will work.
Not every idea will work.
I don’t know exactly what every company or idea will become. Some will grow. Some will change. Some will fail. Others will lead somewhere we could not see at the beginning. That uncertainty is part of building. What matters is learning, improving and changing direction when the facts demand it.

Build something worth leaving behind.

The older I get, the less interested I am in separating achievement from meaning. Business, winning and building matter. So do family, loyalty, relationships, health, freedom and the people who were there before anyone knew what the idea might become. The goal is to build something useful, create opportunity and leave people and places stronger.

I intend to keep moving. Learning. Building. Improving. Taking the lessons from every chapter into the next one. I do not expect the path ahead to be perfectly straight either. That is part of what makes it worth building.
